Ceylon Whistlng Thrush building a nest in an artificial habitat, First record.

An interesting sighting of a bird behaviour, made by me recently, has been published on 'Ceylon Today' newspaper. A pair of Ceylon Whistling - thrush/ Arrenga had built a nest in a man made habitat in Horton Plains national park on March, 2016. The site was an abandoned building inside the park and the nest had been built in it. The species is an endemic, endangered, illusive and very shy bird that is heard more than seen. It is very strange that a nest being built on such an artificial habitat. Finding a nest even in it's usual natural nesting habitat is occasional, having only few records.

A Spinner Dolphin surfacing with her cub and a school of others on rough sea. I though of doing a paintings that shows the the strength of the fierce ocean. But the tiny cub is being braved and guided to survive.

something different

I did a human portrait after a long time on request of a old school friend. I stopped painting it at a stage that I preferred as being completed. But based on comments, I came out with this final stage, which looks nice too. This painting is quite a quick work. Hope you enjoy !

Enjoying a rest after two close consecutive long- haul birding tours...Just completed Limosa bird tour with several interesting bird sightings and loads of birds ... :)

Participating and exhibiting at an International Wildlife Art Exhibition in Singapore;,, Mandala Fine Art...

My paintings are exhibited in Mandala Fine Art's International Wildlife Art exhibition held presently at Orchard Gateway, Singapore. Most of my paintings are in Basement 1 Lobby B, while the other exhibition stalls are in basement 2, Level 3 tube and level 2, 2-5 units. The exhibition is held until 15th November, 2015. I attended the exhibition on 6th November for the VIP opening and was there till 10th November. My family too joined me to make it a great trip !.
It was a great opportunity to meet all the great artists,,,- Leon van der Linden, Ute Bartels, Vishi Dharmasiriwardena, Stefano Zagaglia and many more.... Pleased to see the original artworks of Fernando G. Herrera, Rebecca Latham and many more. 36 international artists participating from 15 countries.......All are welcome !
